Coastal Scents Gel Liner & White Angled Liner Brush

January 30, 2009

Gong Xi Fatt Choy People!!

I hope your CNY hols was a blast! :D

CS
Looks familiar? Yeah, its from Coastal Scents.

I got one myself sometime back ago, and the color I got was Indigo Blue.

And I thought I wouldn't like it since it looks very creamy from the vloggers review. My my, I was wrong! I am loving this as much as I love my Bobbi Brown's gel liner.

Photobucket

My indigo blue just doesn't look any blue here. Much more of a very dark bluish-purple color. I like!
Photobucket

Indigo Blue gel liner on my eye! Excuse the sleepy-eye shot. :P
Photobucket

And again...

Photobucket

Squinting the eye so that the real color shows up! XP

Photobucket

Oh, before I forgets, their white angled liner brush does its job just well too!

Photobucket
The bristles may look a little annoying (a lil' too soft and a little "hay-wired" bristles..), but it works pretty well with their gel liner though.

Overall reviews:
I loved it! And best of it, the price of the gel is super affordable. And you can get a few jars of it compared to you get only ONE from Bobbi Brown. :P Also, it DOES NOT SMUDGE! *Yay!!* I did put on this when I went for my dancing class, and the liner was still staying there nicely (I applied TFSI as base at that time).

However, I do noticed the inconsistency of the gel liners. Colors such as Indigo Blue and True Black works fine as a liner but from the other colors (ie. Grape Vine), their texture was even creamier which works much better as an eye base. Good ol' Multi-use liners. =P

Price: $6.95/ea (about RM25.72 itself)
* CS ships worldwide yo!*

Size: 3g/0.11oz

Overall rating:

* almost my HG but I'm still loyal to my BB gel liners =P*

Canmake Cheek & Highlight [color: 01]

January 20, 2009

I've something to confess......
............
......................
..............................
...................................
...............................................!!!!

I'm a big fan of blusher * mrgreen *......

But I don't own everyone of them in the market, so am I still considered as a blusher-fan? redface

I know CANMAKE was in the market sometime / long time ago, and I was so attracted to it not because of its price....

Photobucket

But because of I can use it as a highlighter and also a blusher at a same time! Just like how I adore MSF (MAC Mineralized Skin Finish).

The color swatch:
Photobucket

Watson do sell them, but I don't think all of the below colors are available in the counters though...

The shade availability in the market..

Overall description:

Well, this product is not my "must have" blusher but the color payoff is good. The highlighter showed up on the skin as well and it doesn't breakout / make my face oily after it is applied.

However, I don't quite like its texture. Well, for a price tag like this (I think about RM21.90+) , I wouldn't complain but I was expecting it to be as finely milled as Silkygirl's blusher. This blusher also had quite a chunk of glitter in the highlighter part, and if you can see in above swatch, they do fall out upon application. Imagine if it is applied on the cheeks.......

MAC Mineralized Loose Foundation SPF15, I like!

January 15, 2009

Geez. Lately I have been buying quite a number of foundations. ZA, Dior, and now MAC.

As if I changed my skin everyday. LOL. mrgreen

Because of Dior's foundation color doesn't suit me well, I donated my money in return for MAC's mineralized loose foundation instead.

Damn terror la. Match my skin tone well. So unbelievable. lol

The packaging looks so cute. Like a super-mini milk bottle. hehe.
MAC

This loose foundation is a permanent line for MAC . So it won't be going anywhere, anytime soon (for now). And you can also find them in MAC's webbie.

The sponge is attached to the cover of the foundation, and it also comes with an extra sponge too.

Price: RM125
My Shade: Light Medium

Overall review:
Well, like I said, it matches my skin well. No break out so far (**touch wood**), and it keeps oil at bay too! Best of it, it does NOT oxidies on me. YAY! I used to read reviews mentioning MAC's foundation does cause breakout, orange face, etc. But thank god I don't encounter any of it.

And on the negative side, the sponge is a little not so hygiene. Imagine after you applied the foundation on your face, the sponge goes back in again with the foundation. rolleyes And also, the sponge is a little difficult to use, would recommend a kabuki brush or a powder brush for this.

Overall rating:

Almost my HG, minus the sponge applicator part! Well done, MAC!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque review

January 11, 2009

Because of this...

Photobucket

I went on and got one for myself.

Photobucket

The Original Mint Julep Masque

  • Helps dry up acne pimples
  • Rinses away blackheads
  • Helps shrink large pores

The original natural home treatment, developed by a dermatologist, that will actually dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads and even help shrink enlarged pores.

Simply apply Mint Julep Masque to your face and neck. Within minutes it firms and hardens, as its suction action draws out waste matter from the pores. Minutes later, rinse the masque away with warm water and a washcloth. After the masque is removed your skin will feel clean...refreshed and smooth.

Even for people who are fortunately free of skin problems, Mint Julep Masque is a refreshing facial treatment that relaxes tired muscles and eases tension lines on the face and neck.

The above three points really tempt me to try them out. And the results? Not too bad!

The ingredients of this so-call-miracle mask:

If you see the above, sulfur actually helps to dry the skin out and also does help drying up pimples.

The mask color - seaweed green...
Photobucket

And on me... LOL..(excuseeeeeeee the pores!)
Photobucket

Price:$3.99/8oz (From Drugstore) I got it for RM31

Overall review:
I don't recommend this for dry-normal skin people . I personally feel it is a tad drying especially around the cheeks area. I don't quite like the strong minty feel on it as well, it feels a bit like you are having "frost bite" (stinging feeling) on your face. eek

However, my skin does feel smooth after using it. I can also see a little effect of pores tightening on my face. And for this huge tube of mask with this price, it certainly can last for quite some time.

Overall rating:

(the strong mint feel does put me off a lil')

Diorskin Extreme Fit Supermoist Powder Foundation review

January 4, 2009

I'm sure Dior is seriously and dangerously famous with their lipgloss.

Little did I know they also have quite a good range of powder foundation too until I brought this back home ...
Photobucket

I did always raved about how I always love my Chanel but when I touch Dior's powder, it is silky smooth and super fine. *squeals*

Dior came out with their new range of supermoist line about 2 months ago and the SA told me that this range suits our hot and humid weather in Malaysia. And I do agree with that after using it for a month plus now.

The box:

The refill comes with a sponge and it is packed quite elegantly with its crystal-like plastic casing.

I must say it does look more classy than my Shu's and Chanel's refill packaging.rolleyes

And of course, the results: (pls excuse my large pores. -_-)

Overall reviews:
Diorskin extremefit supermoist does not streak or cake after 4-5 hours for me. The powder is smooth and fine, but it is not as powdery as Shu U's or ZA's two way. I think it is comparable between Chanel's Mat lumiere powder foundation though. It does not provide any dewy/glow effect but it does gave a matte finish which is why I adore it. Coverage wise, it does give an almost full coverage for me, not too heavy but just nice.

However, I felt that to get a 90% matched skintone color code is quite difficult though.

010 code for me is a tad too whitish and I think 020 should be a better match. The SA initially recommend me to get the lighter color code and luckily I didn't get it. So it is best to test the colors before buying it though. rolleyes

(minus the credit for limited range of colors).

Edit: Price of the foundation refill is RM128 for 9.5g mrgreen

Coastal Scents Haul, last but not least in 2008

January 1, 2009

Before I forgets....

HNY

It's the first day of Jan 2009 people!! New Year, New Resolution, and New Make ups! LOL! mrgreen

I need to limit my spending in makeup this year, which is one of my new year's resolution. -_-

Well, I really broke my bank not once but many times in 2008. Blame it all on the benefits of online shopping and surfing. -_-

Photobucket

And yeah, this was the last one that came in before we ended year 2008. LOL. Bless mi Coastal Scents.

Photobucket

This was just part of it. I haven't really tried them out yet. But the brushes did disappoint me a bit.

What I got:
- Pink Kabuki Brush USD4.99
- Italian Badger Round Crease Brush USD2.49
- White Angled Liner Brush USD2.19
- Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler USD7.95
- Gel Liner : Indigo Blue

Up close of it...
Photobucket

Well, let's go on the negative part first. Look at the above picture.. it reminds me of someone...

My 187SE.

I mean the Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler = 187SE.
Photobucket

Hell yeah, it bleeds. Like crazy. -_-

USD7.95. Gone. Just like that.

The brush WAS super soft, which I thought it might be flimsy or somewhat. It DID feel like baby hair at first touch. But it also got a straight F9 for me. No credit for this one. confused

And guess what, EDM will launch their stippling brush in Jan! I am not sure if I am going to pass this one after so many two bleeding brushes that I got. -_-
Photobucket

No stain found in the brush above right... *hmmmm*

However, the pink kabuki brush was okay.
Photobucket
It does smell like paint/glue at the beginning, but it died down a little after I washed it.

BTW, the pink kabuki's brush bristle is soft too..

However, compared to my EDM Flat Top Brush's quality wise, EDM's brush wins hands down.

The badger round crease brush was good, IMO. It is very dense and compact and no bleeding too! Thumbs up for that! mrgreen

Anyway, I'll try to review the rest of them soon. Happy new year to all!
